How to Leave a Church

by | IMHO Blog

One of the most difficult decisions a Christian will make is leaving their church home. Unfortunately, things may happen that cause a person to question their fellowship, the local church community. In a consumer-driven world, the temptation is to see the local church as a “product” and to reduce our motivation by what is most suitable to our likes and tastes. Yet there may be serious considerations that come into play: doctrine, inadequate programs for children and teens, differing music styles and tastes, unrelenting personal conflicts, location, pastoral idiosyncrasies, leadership styles, and the list goes on. There is a good way to leave a church and also a bad way to leave. For a thought-provoking article on how to do it well, read: How to Leave a Church.

Thank you so much for the timely article. The issue has been on my mind personally for a few months over some “creeping-in” of doctrinal modifications, including leaning egalitarian versus complementarian, and unbalanced grace over truth.

Pure Praise – Psalm 150

Priesthood for “Average” Believers

If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, then you are a believer-priest. That’s amazing! What?? Let me explain. In the New Testament (NT), there is no special clergy class that is holier than the rest of us, a cut above the rank and...

Superlative Praise – Psalm 149

1Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, and His praise in the congregation of the godly ones. Superlative praise, extolling God ‘to the max,’ is the theme of this psalm. There is nothing meager about this kind of praise. It is the antidote to an old and tired...
